Sometimes it takes a lot of thought to decide what I want to post on my blog. Other times, an opportunity might just present itself and I decide to roll with it. Based on this intro, you can probably guess that this particular post was created because of the latter.
On a recent vacation in Mexico, I came back to my hotel room one day to find that the cleaners had organized my makeup into a perfect flatlay. So, of course, the blogger in me snapped a pic and decided I would use it for a blog post!
When it comes to beauty products, it’s easy for me to get wrapped up in what’s new and exciting rather than talking about staples that I love. But what better way to showcase what I really love than by showing what packed with me on vacation!? I already have a big problem with overpacking, so when it comes to my makeup, I try my best to just stick to 1 item per category (so just 1 bronzer, 1 blush, etc.) so that I can achieve both a quick and full makeup look.
So with a huge shout out to the room cleaner that made this post possible, here’s all the makeup I packed with me to Mexico:
Face
There are plenty of days where I don’t wear makeup at all, but when I do, I have 1 of 2 looks that I go for. The first is a bit lighter while the second is full on. On lighter makeup days, I skip the foundation and apply the Becca Aqua Luminous concealer, as its creamy formula blends in perfectly with the rest of my skin. When I want a full-makeup look, I wear foundation and the Tarte Shape Tape concealer over top. All the other products listed below I use for both looks, including two different setting powders. I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder under my eyes and the MAC Studio Fix Powder for the rest of my face.
Primer – Maybelline Master Prime Primer (Blur + Smooth 100)
Foundation – NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint w/ SPF 30 Sunscreen (Alaska Light2)
Concealer 1 – Tarte Shape Tape (Light Medium)
Concealer 2 – Becca Aqua Luminous (Fair)
Setting Powder 1 – MAC Studio Fix Powder (NW25)
Setting Powder 2 – Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Blush – NARS Orgasm
Bronzer – NARS Laguna
Highlighter – Becca (Champagne Pop)
Setting Spray – Urban Decay All Nighter

I love me some Benefit brow products. For something quick and easy, I use the Gimme Brow gel, but if I want a more filled-in look I go for the Foolproof Brow powder.

Eyes
No matter how light or how heavy I want my makeup to be, I’ll always throw on some mascara. But if I’m feeling a little more fancy, some eyeshadow and eyeliner might get thrown on too. When packing eyeshadow, I always opt to bring 1 palette vs. multiple individual eyeshadows.
Eyeliner – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (Trooper)
Eyeshadow Palette – Lorac Pro Palette 3
Mascara – Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

Lips
Depending on where I’m going and what I’ll be doing, the lip products I bring might change slightly. But in general, as was the case with this trip, I’ll stick with more neutral colors that I know will look good with everything.
Liquid Lipstick – Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick (10 Nude Flush)
Lip Stain – Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Stain (Forever Pink)
