Brazilian Blowout: Worth The Money?

If you've been reading my blog for a couple months now then you probably remember this post where I wrote about my past experience with getting a Brazilian Blowout.  I recently went and got the treatment done again and decided to write an updated "worth the money?" post since the blogger in me was prepared this time around and I actually took before and after pictures to show you guys!  I also wanted to go a little more in depth about the treatment process itself since it is fresh in my mind.

If you're going to go make sure you go to a salon that you trust since it is expensive and you'll want to make sure it is done right!  Every time I've gotten it done (this was my third time) I've gone to the same stylist, Lindsay, who does a great job and answers all of my questions.

The Brazilian Blowout Process Step By Step:  The Blowout started like any other hair appointment with getting my hair washed and conditioned.  Lindsay then brushed the treatment on my hair in small pieces.  After that I sat under a heat lamp for about 15 minutes before getting my hair blow dried COMPLETELY.  This was the most tedious part of the entire appointment and I actually had to close my eyes for part of it as the chemicals were making them sting.  Once my hair was perfectly dry it was straightened with a straightener to really seal in the treatment.  Then my hair got rinsed and conditioned once more.  Finally, a (much faster) blow dry and style and my Brazilian Blowout was complete!  The whole process took about two hours.

Brazilian Blowout Results:  The results were beautiful and my hair had literally never looked so shiny and felt so soft.  Sadly, my locks won't stay straight for long but they will continue to be much less frizzy until the treatment wears off.

How Long Does A Brazilian Blowout Last:  It is supposed to last around three months and will gradually wear off over those three months.

Brazilian Blowout Maintenance:  Lindsay recommended that I not wash my hair until the next day but other than that I was free to go about my day as usual.  One of the best parts about this treatment is that once you're done you're done!  I did go home with a sulfate-free shampoo and a smoothing serum, both of which are recommended to keep your Brazilian Blowout looking great for the longest amount of time.

Should You Get A Brazilian Blowout:  It is definitely expensive (the price at my salon is $250) but in my mind worth it if you can afford it.  Each time you get the treatment it builds on each other so you should continue to get better and better results!  It is such a time saver to be able to let your hair air dry naturally and walk out the door.  Personally, I think it is something I will continue to do, but only once or twice a year because of the expense.

Have any of you gotten a Brazilian Blowout before?  Would you recommend it to others?

  3. so... I'm guessing a Brazilian Blowout is basically the opposite of a perm? Is that right? Guess I don't need it coz I have straight hair already, and the longer it gets, the straighter it becomes because of the weight...

  6. I've heard of a Brazilian Blowout but I've never had it done before. Your hair looks so pretty for the after picture and I appreciate the tips for what to do to take care of it. I've had a friend suggest that I try it just to see if it would help my hair and now I might! The trick is finding someone to do it properly!
