2016 Goals

2015 has been a year of big accomplishments and changes for me.  I graduated from college, travelled a bit, landed a full-time job and started this blog.  I've grown much more comfortable with who I am as a person and have a vision for who I want to become in the future.  Part of the reason that I started this blog (aside from my love of reading other peoples blogs) was to challenge myself to become everything I wanted to be.  I'm happy to say I truly feel like I'm on the right path.  With all that being said I don't think I've ever been more excited for a new year.  2016 is full of possibilities and for the first time in a long time I feel like I will be able to achieve whatever I put my mind to.

Here are some of my big goals for the upcoming year:

Lose 40 pounds
I spoke a little about this in a previous workout post (read here) but throughout college I gained a lot of weight and it's time for me to lose it.  I started working on this goal around February of last year and although I did lose some weight I still have a long way to go.  I know that I will feel so much more confident and happy about myself once I do so I'm going to try and use that as my motivator.

Not Worry About What Other People Think
This is something that I've more recently realized I need to start doing.  Starting my blog was a big step in the right direction as I've wanted to start one for a while but was worried that I wasn't "cool" or "trendy" enough to do it.  This is really my overarching goal for the year that I think will help me accomplish my other more specific goals, such as growing my blog.

Get Rid Of Toxic People
Life is short so why would I waste my time being around people that bring me down?  I've dealt with people that seem to find joy in being mean to others and that's not what I want to be around.  I actually find it very sad that some people feel the need to resort to that in order to feel ok with themselves but in the new year I want to distance myself from all of that negativity.

Focus On Real Friendships
In addition to getting rid of any toxic relationships in my life, I want to really focus on the few friendships in my life that are honest and good.  Quality over quantity.  The people that are truly rooting for me to succeed are the people that I want to spend my time with.

Grow & Better My Blog
I'm still so new to this world but have been loving it so much.  In 2016 I hope to grow my blog in every way possible!  Yes, that means I would be thrilled to grow my following, but I also want to learn to create better content with better pictures.  I can't wait to see what happens with this space in the next year!

Hope you all have a wonderful new year!  Do we have any of the same goals?  Do you have any tips to help me reach some of mine?

  1. Great post! Followed your blog :-)

  2. I love that your goals are to help you feel happier and make you more confident rather than to please others! I hope you have a great 2016! ♥

  3. I actually haven't read any 2016 goals/resolutions kind of posts yet, but these are definitely some brilliant ones to have! I also feel like 2016 is going to be a really good year for many reasons, I'm feeling the positivity! I hope you stick to your goals & definitely steer clear of all the mean people! You have a lovely blog :-)

  4. Great goals for the new year Rachel! I definitely want to lose 20 more lbs! I haven't really started on that goal yet however lol! Ahhh the comparison game is definitely tough especially as a blogger but you just have to remember how awesome you are and just fake it until you make it by telling yourself how awesome you are and how successful your blog is! I constantly have to remind myself of this. Growing and Bettering my blog is definitely my main focus! So better photography, pinning, and even more better content is very important to me. Good luck on your goals, I know you can do it!!!

  5. Good luck with your goals this year, so glad I stumbled upon your blog. Look forward to seeing what you get up to this year! xx

  6. I don't have any goals this year besides maybe plan my life a little bit. I usually run around clueless, which turned out well so far, but I feel like some sort of plan might actually help :)
Good luck with your resolutions! :)

  7. One of my goals i'm so slowly starting to overcome is not worrying about what others think :) I also started had my blog for a year and want to grow it, great goals :)
